The Mississippi River is one of the best kept secrets in the Brainerd area. We want to keep it that way so that our guests can enjoy the solitude and beauty.

The Mississippi Headwaters Board has zoned Rugged River Resort as scenic which means our shoreline is relatively undeveloped. Wild rice grows along the shore and is harvested in August. It is not unusual to see a bald eagle soaring overhead or a whitetail deer sipping from the waters edge. The water quality of the river is ranked very high. Take the resort paddle boat or canoe to discover the river and enjoy the scenery.
